oprah's school, oprah winfrey

Although Oprah Winfrey was widely praised for establishing Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girlsat Henley-on-Klip near Johannesburg, South Africa, in recent months there has been an outcry from parents of girls enrolled in Oprah's school because of the strict rules regarding cell phone use, family visits and the diet the girls are fed, which totally bans junk food. Many parents of the students at Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls are complaining that the strict rules about family and parental contacts are making it hard for them to stay in touch with their children. Up until last fall, parents were allowed to visit every two weeks, but now the girls there are only allowed a visit from parents once a month. The girls in Oprah's school aren't allowed to use their cell phones or send e-mails during the week, and are only allowed to call their parents on weekends. And even though parents are allowed monthly visits at the school, they have to be approved two weeks in advance. Maybe it's just me, but I think this is just wrong. Oprah's school should allow parents weekly visits. I don't really think it would interfere with the girls' education. It seems to me that the school's administrators are being way too heavy-handed.
