oprah winfrey, oprah winfrey show

Today on the Oprah Winfrey Show she is going to honor the life of one of our greatest Americans, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On the show, Oprah Winfrey will stand in the spot where Dr. King stood and gave his famous speech, I Have Dream. Oprah Winfrey is going to tell the story of Gee's Bend, a predominately Black town isolated by water on three sides and hated by its neighbors, the town of Camden. The people of Gee's Bend began to participate in the Civil Rights Movement and its neighbors were not going to allow it.

This is going to be a great story for the entire family. I am planning on watching this with my niece. We live very near the city of Gary, Indiana and we see racism all the time because the city is in such bad shape. People want to blame the residence for its problems. I think today's Oprah Winfrey Show will be a good counter part to that. I try to teach tolerance, especially where we live, but it is hard when there's such racism around us. I hope you and your family can watch the Oprah Winfrey Show today, too.
