At Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls, the underlying theme is beauty inspires and the girls are surrounded by beauty. Oprah's School has opened to mixed reviews, but it is open and educating intelligent young African girls that would not be getting an education otherwise.
Some parents have accused Oprah's School of being too strict, but make no mistake; the girls are there to get a good education without the outside distractions. The comment of one mother that they are not allowed treats says that Oprah's School is concerned about the girls health as sweets are shown to effect children in a very negative way causing hyperactivity, acting out and, of course, cavities.
At Oprah's school, some parents say the school is too regimented, but in any school, discipline is of the utmost importance, especially one in which the students are taught to excel and to be future leaders. One of the biggest problems in American Schools today is the severe lack of discipline that is allowing the inmates to run the asylum.
