Oprah Winfrey is a model for talk show hosts for men and women. Her shows are almost always first rate and she has done so much for worthy causes in this country and around the world. Oprah Winfrey came from a poor background, and what she has accomplished in her life is just amazing, not just materially but also socially around the world.
Her influence is wide spread. Her angel network has created a fantastic school in Africa for young girls, with the promise of college educations for those who will be eligible academically. Her book club has elevated reading to a popular activity, and the books she chooses are first rate. The day she retires from daytime television will be a sad day. Oprah Winfrey advances virtually any cause she brings to the table, and has helped so many public programs become widely known, and better supported.
Oprah Winfrey is an icon in this country, and let us hope that the foundations she has created continue their great work long after she has stepped out of the spotlight.
