Oprah, who was a guest on CNN's Larry King Live over the weekend, was asked about parents who complained about excessive rules. The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa has been the butt of continued complaints from parents that (among other things) the girls aren't allowed any junk food, and they (the parents) have to go through a security gate.
Oprah is taking off the gloves! She said, in the interview with Larry King, that she has personally phoned the parents who had complained about the strict rules and told them they were free to remove their girls. She did not plan to change the rules just because they didn't like them. "I'm not changing the rules," said Oprah. "I let you go through a security gate with whoever you're bringing in. I'm not going to change it, and if you don't like it, feel free to collect your daughter at any time. I'm not changing the rules," she said.
Ms. Winfrey did not say anything about the two girls who claim to have been forbidden to speak to each other in their mother-tongue Afrikaans on the school premises.
Oprah also revealed that she was getting involved in a third school in South Africa. She said that was not involved in building the school "some three hour's drive" outside Durban, but helped organize the process and the money was collected through her Angel Network.
Oprah said becoming involved in the leadership academy was one of the best things she had ever done.
QUOTE Oprah: 'I will tell you that MY OWN CHILDREN said.'
(see video above)
They're NOT YOUR OWN CHILDREN, MISSY! They have parents, who YOU allow to visit their children only ONCE a month (for two hours).
And then she thinks she's a philantropist...doing good....
