Oprah's new school in South Africa is located in a small community called Henly On Klip.

The reception area is reportedly a sight to behold, with gorgeous Persian rugs along with beautiful lanterns hung from the ceiling. Many kinds of African furniture decorate both the whole facility, while paintings adorn the walls.

A spokesperson for Oprah's school recently said to some journalists, "We have never allowed any media person inside; we are here to concentrate on running the school, not to deal with public relations."

"We don't mind having it here at all, it's quite a nice school, the layout is very good," said a town resident.

"Most of us here are proud of the school. It has made a big change to the area and has brought a lot of people around," she added.

Whites in the area love the Oprah's school but poor blacks complain of feeling cheated.

"An Eastern Cape contractor built the school, and the local people weren't allowed to go there," said one individual about Oprah's school, "In terms of economic benefit, there was none for the community and there is not one guy from the area who works there."

He went on to say that all workers are outsiders, "Because they don't trust us."

Fifty percent of the three thousand people who live in Henly On Klip are unemployed, he noted.
