Oprahs school blog is upset by video on Youtube

I found a video on Youtube that seem to be a radio show of Oprah and her best friend Gayle King. These are some very racist remarks if true. I don't believe in making these kind of comments toward any race. Sometimes people say things they wish they hadn't but I rate these comments just a hair above the Imus remarks. Oprahs tell me this was taken out of context please....

I doubt that these remarks were made by Oprah and Gayle. There's always someone out there who wants to cause trouble for good people just to stir the pot. I have no doubt that that is the case here.

I live in Johannesburg and I strongly resent some of those remarks.. The situation in my country is becoming a reversal of apartheid.. I doubt that in 10 years from now any financially challenged white child will stand a chance of truly making something of him or herself without being blocked by the government at every corner.. Ha, then again, this government is so corrupt I think we're all pretty much screwed

it is alll good and well to rant and rave how the situation in SA is becoming a mild form of reverse apartheid but on many levels i can honestly say that I, a South African myself, feel no sympathy on that. As a young black lady I may not be underprivelliged but even with all the initiatives in place with the noted intention to better me I am still disadvantaged. Disadvantaged by a culture that was cultivated by White South Africa during apartheid to benefit the white people alone. I dont see why it is that as black South Africans we are being made to feel guilty for taking that which we are being offered, taking what had been withheld from us for so many years... we need to restore our black pride and that shall never be possible until we ar as oprah said, able to prove our worth. so aside from the initial recording in the video, i say everything else that this lady has said is valid and i hope that she never has to apologise for it... this would be a more promising nature if more people, juat like oprah, would take pride in themselves and their people.

The point is South Africa needs schools for all disadvantaged children. Not one school, scrutinizing young girls for 'excellence', making them 'leaders of tomorrow' (which is nonsense). Young people will have a chance if you give them a normal school education; this fact has been proven over and over; most Nobelprizewinners had normal educations. Talented children don't need special environments or 30 million dollar estates. Nor New Age 'visions', nor 'dreams' of wealthy american ladies. And disadvantage for blacks can only be solved in the South-African society itself. Post Spacer
