THE BELOW IS A POST FROM EDDY MULANGALA OF THE UBUMI CHILDREN'S PROJECT. WE ARE HAVING A BIT OF A CHALLENGE WITH GETTING THEM "IN" THE BLOG BUT WE ARE ENDEAVORING TO PERSEVERE. UNTIL EDDY CAN POST HIMSELF I WILL POST FOR HIM. I ENDORSE THIS MOST WORTHY AFRICAN CHARITY. READ BELOW:
In most African countries education is not free. Pupils are regularly asked to pay monthly or annual school fees by the local government to pay for the general operation of the schools. Unfortunately the majority of the families cannot afford the relatively high costs of school fees or are unable to forego the income of a working child.
For many families, girls are left behind from schools due to economic and culture biases. In many parts of Africa, girls are kept behind to work in their fields or at home. The out-come is obvious-many of the girls end up marrying and begin having their own children by adolescence, thus, continuing the ever growing cycle of poverty, ignorance and over-population. Some girls are forced to work out in the public selling food and other petty merchandise. This work often leads to prostitution and other sordid means of earning money. It is for this reason Ubumi Children's Project Africa; http://www.ubumi.org/ in Zambia endorses Oprah's initiative of helping the girls in Africa! Bravo and God bless you Oprah!!!!
"Giving comes from the heart"
Many wonderful people would like to emulate Oprah's vision to help girls in Africa acquire an education. Though at a small "tinny winy" magnitude, Belinda Walthew, an Australian native living in France, together with her husband and lovely kids are taking a strong belief in Oprah's vision of helping girls in Africa.
Through Ubumi Children's Project Africa, they have agreed to provide small scholarships to girls attending school at the Ubumi Children's Project Africa School in Zambia as part of the on going educational enhancement for girls in Africa as Belinda Walthew puts it nicely, "During the last few years I have been profoundly disturbed by the plight of people in countries all over the world, but particularly in Africa and Asia, affected by AIDS. Although I am not in a position to offer a large sum of money to any organization, my husband and I would like to donate 25 Euros per child per month to help a girl with her schooling as part of the Ubumi's Girls Education initiative."
Ubumi Children's Project believes that "giving comes from the heart." Thank you Belinda and thank you Oprah for all what you are doing for our African girls.
