leadership academy for girls south africaIn Springfield, Missouri the textbooks are accumulating at one Ozarks elementary school as the students try to share the gift of learning. In Mr. Carr's 5th grade classroom the students were inspired by Oprah Winfrey's efforts and want to follow suit to spread their love of reading around the world. They started a book drive hoping to get as many books as possible. When they are finished they hope to donate the books to Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. Every student wrote Oprah telling her about this project.

Student Erica Batson counts the books as they are collected; "We have 535 books," said Batson.

Mr. Carr says this has imparted some important lessons, "If you set your mind to something you can get it done you just have to work hard it takes hard work."

The students hope to connect with the kids in Africa and share their love of reading. Bravo!
