Oprah Winfery's Harpo Productions was at Velasco Elementary School in Freeport, Texas on Monday to tape an episode of the upcoming ABC prime time reality show, The Big Give. The Big Give is an eight-episode show during which ten people will compete to take money and resources they're given and multiply them, "to create the most powerful, sensational, emotional and dramatic ways to give to others," according to information released jointly by ABC and Harpo.
"This is a reality show by Harpo Productions," said show Producer Elise Donagieri, "We want to protect the outcome for the contestants and reveals. The concern right now is to preserve the surprise."
The Freeport, Texas campus was chosen from an effort where underprivileged children were "adopted", making sure they received Christmas gifts.
"When a promo for this came on the Oprah Winfrey show, people could send in a challenge for these teams," said Superintendent Joe Keith Ripple. "This is based on what they sent in, to buy a present for every child at Velasco Elementary."
The press release states: "During the weekly series, contestants will test their nerve, drive, ingenuity and passion. Throughout the episodes, the field will be narrowed through a unique method. The stakes will get higher and higher with one person ultimately being chosen to have his or her wildest dream come true for making the biggest impact. The series will center on the drama, emotion and magic of making a difference in peoples' lives." |
